Established in 1987, the mission of the Machias Food Pantry is to assist families, individuals and senior citizens with food and other social services.  During the 2009-2010 winter season we served 60-65 families per week.  Last year the food pantry served 2,099 families which included 3,897 individuals.  During the year 274 winter jackets and coats were given out, 225 turkeys were received for the holidays, and 809 Christmas gifts were given to children and special needs adults.

We are able to meet the needs of so many families due to the generosity of individuals, schools, local business and churches who donated food and gave financial assistance to the food pantry, fuel assistance and emergency needs.  Thank you for your ongoing support.
