Community Green Space Giving Program

As spring arrived this year volunteers from the church and community stepped forward to donate equipment, materials and labor to turn our new vacant lot next to the church into a beautiful grassy COMMUNITY GREEN SPACE. Donated heavy equipment, loam, and lots of people with rakes and shovels put many hours into this project.

It is fitting that the first official activity on the property was a Church Picnic, on June 10, attended by many of our church family and friends of all ages.

Now the work continues to progress on paying off the loans for this purchase. Selling the parish house, accepting gifts of money and/or low or no interest loans from church members friends, and participating in a Challenge Grant campaign are our current projects.

Due to the generosity of leadership gifts from church member, we have money pledged to be made available as challenge gifts. Anyone interested in seeing their gift "doubled" is encouraged to send a donation to the church for use in paying off our loans which have made our green space possible. People who donate money right now during this Challenge Campaign will have their gift matched dollar for dollar.

This was a project of deep faith for our church. An opportunity like this does not come along every day. We prayed, and we did what we knew was right for our churchÕs future generations.

We all realize that we who took this important step may not be around to see the final use for this property. But we know we have done our part, as we have been called during this time in our churchÕs history, to secure the resources which will enable our church to continue to minister to this community, and to the world, as it has for the past 200 years, and will continue to for generations to come.

We hope many of our friends far and wide will join us in our "Green Space" project.
