As we enter Advent season, how can our churches become houses where the Holy will be born anew—offering respite and care, opening the doors wide to those seeking hope, joy, peace, and love
The Inn: Housing the Holy, our Advent worship series, comes from the Worship Design Studio. Services begin at 10:00 and will be available both in the sanctuary and on Zoom. To join an Advent service on Zoom, click HERE. |

November 30 — Advent 1
Hope: Making Room Our worship speaker is Lynne Gibson, who serves Centre Street as clerk and financial secretary. The Bell Choir will ring "What Child Is This?" and the Chancel Choir will sing Joel Raney's "Christmas Peace." As a special treat, composer Alan Kryszak will play an original piece on our historic tracker organ. December 7 — Advent 2 Joy: How Much is Enough? The Bell Choir will ring a rousing arrangement of "Joy to the World" for the candle lighting, and the Chancel Choir will sing "Prepare the Way O Zion," arranged by Sheldon Curry. Bonnie Beiswenger, a long-time volunteer at the Machias Area Food Pantry, is our worship speaker, and the deacons will lead us in celebrating Holy Communion. |
December 14 — Advent 3
Peace: A Place at the Table Christina LaBrosse, one of Centre Street's four deacons, is our worship speaker this morning. The Bell Choir will ring "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" for the candle lighting, and the Chancel Choir will sing John Devorick's "Peace Carol," based on a traditional Ukranian carol. December 21 — Advent 4 Love: A Room with a View The Bell Choir will start this service with "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," and the Chancel Choir will sing the hauntingly beautiful "The Yearning," by Courtney and Boersma. Our worship speaker is Laurel Robinson, who represents the deacons on Church Council and participates in the Bell and Chancel Choirs. |
